Celebrating Easter in Chinese is a great way to include a western holiday in your bilingual home.

Your kids will be sure to be hearing about and doing activities surrounding Easter so why not celebrate it in your family’s target language?

Here’s a list with all the best books, videos and activities to simplify Easter prep for you!

Chinese Easter Books for Kids

Since Easter is mainly celebrated in the West, the Chinese book selection on the holiday is relatively small.

Most of these books you will need to order from overseas. Some Christian Chinese books are available on Christian online bookstores. 

I share both traditional and simplified books below.

A simple story to introduce children to the real meaning of Easter.

Join Peppa and her friends on an Easter egg hunt!

Bridge book on Easter. Great for kids that are developing independent reading (book has zhuyin) or a good read-aloud option for Easter.

Fun interactive seek and find board book to keep your little one engaged as they hear the Easter story.

Bilingual

This wonderful picture book written by theologian R. C. Sproul. Through following the journey of a little donkey who wanted to do great things, Davey takes readers through the passion week and how Jesus is the suffering servant. This book has more text so appropriate for grade schoolers who can sit through longer picture books.

A simple short book that introduces the story of Christ’s death and resurrection to your child. 

Bilingual

A popular children’s magazine based in Hong Kong has an issue dedicated to Easter. Magazine comes with QR code and works with Sunya Reading pen. Get a glimpse inside through Little Kozzi’s website.

Simplified Chinese Easter Books for Kids

We love our Spot books. These are great interactive for toddlers and preschoolers. In this story, kids get to help Spot find Easter eggs.

Chinese Easter Activities for Bilingual Families

Here are some fun ways to celebrate the holiday in a hands on way in Mandarin Chinese.

  1. Easter egg color match. Write the Chinese word for corresponding colors on Easter eggs. Have your toddlers match them.
  2. Easter egg Chinese reading review. Write Chinese characters your child is learning in Easter eggs. Have your child pick an egg out of the basket then read the character out-loud.
  3. Make an Easter themed Chinese recipe with my kid friendly Portuguese egg tart.
  4. Celebrate Holy Week with my free printable.
